Five members of The Statesiders died when their bandwagon collided with an articulated truck near Ballymena in the early hours of Saturday 21st November 1964. A friend of the band also died in the tragic crash. Four Mallett brothers, James, William, Jeremiah and John died as well as William Harrison and Daniel McLaughlin.
