SONGWRITER AND PRODUCER |
Billy Brown's songs were recorded by quite a few artistes including Ray Lynam, Tracy Jennings, Sandy Duskey, The Indians, Brendan Quinn, The Conquerors, Sheeba, Jukebox and King Creole. He wrote an entry for Ireland's National Song Contest in 1978, 'It's Amazing What Love Can Do', performed by Sheeba. He was also in great demand as a producer and arranger. |
"At the time of his death he and I had been working on developing a young pop band (all playing their own instruments – not a boy band). For me the heart, soul and musical genius of Billy’s input died with Billy and very soon I ended the band. Around that time, International football had a golden goal rule. When a match ended in a draw, first goal in extra time was the winner. I was with Billy in his house two nights before he died and he told me his doctor wanted him to go into hospital. He quoted his doctor saying ‘the next clot could be the golden goal’ Unfortunately he didn’t get the time to into hospital. This is a photo of Billy with the lead singer of that young band, Mal Rodgers who by coincidence happens to be a brother of Leicester City Manager Brendan." Joe McCadden |
