Rotgut (Larne)

Rotgut was one of the few rock bands from Larne, County Antrim.  This band played mostly in the north but occasionally showed at Moran's Hotel (basement) and the Crystal Ballroom (Sgt. Peppers) in Dublin. They had good reviews playing original material and were extremely proud of how loud they could be! Peter Doig was replaced in 1971 by John Kirkpatrick. Rotgut moved to London in 1973 where they met with David Bowie and toured nationally with Flamenco rock outfit Carmen. Bill Craig is still in music based in Toronto and has played as a member of Canada's Edward Bear and recently as part of the Irish Rovers. They also featured the "semi-legendary" roadie Oskar with his light show. He is now in charge of lighting at The Waterfront centre in Belfast - (thanks to Bill Craig).
