Dead Centre

Courtesy of Joe Dodd: Dead Centre were from the Glasnevin/Finglas area of Dublin. Shay Murphy, Paul Matthews, Dave Murphy, Gerry O'Donovan and Eamon Gibney. They later changed the band-name to Purple Pussycat when managed by Pete Selwood. Dave Murphy went on to play with the Pacific Showband and The Memories. Shay Murphy became drummer with the Gentry when they became a showband with Brian Harris, Donnie Deveney, etc., and then went to Canada with the John McNally Band. Eamon Gibney joined The Arrows and when they became Dickie's Band  he returned to partner Gerry O'Donovan in Alyce and the Gibney & Donovan Band.

I'm guessing - but they probably took their name from Glasnevin Cemetery.
